Marisela Valencia-First Grade
Debra Wilson – Second Grade
I was born at what is now regional hospital here in Yakima. I left 2 weeks after graduating from East Valley High School and worked 7 1/2 years for Pay n Save corporation. My passion was for working with children so I earned my AA and then moved back here to complete my BA in education @ Central Washington University. I took my 1st job in Union Gap, but quit after 3 years to get my MA in Ed from Central. I then moved to Mount Vernon where I worked 7 years in a resource room, 15 years teaching kindergarten and my last 2 years as a reading intervention specialist. I love learning and have been blessed to learn from my students as well as teaching them things too. I am a tree hugger so I am sorry, but I will try to corrupt your children into becoming environmentalist. 🙂

I grew up in Bothell, WA with my five sisters, two brothers, and mother. I attended parochial school from first to eighth grade at St. Brendan in Bothell. I earned my bachelor’s degree at CWU and my master’s degree from UW-Bothell.
I am excited at the opportunity to once again be in a faith-based community of educators, students, and families. I look forward to working and sharing with all of you my passion for teaching, my love of baseball (Go Mariners!), and a sense of community that St. Paul’s provides to all who attend.
Meghan Kerns- Middle School Science
This will be my first year teaching Middle School science at St. Paul Cathedral School, and I am beyond excited to meet all of my young scientists! During my time in middle school, I had some amazing teachers who sparked my love for science and I am eager to pass that along to my students. I grew up in Yakima and I graduated from Washington State University with a Bachelor’s of Science in General Biology. I also attended the University of Hawaii at Manoa to study biology. During my time in Hawaii, I was a part of the biology club and made some lifelong friends who shared my passion for science. Some of my favorite hobbies are snorkeling and exploring marine life. One of my other hobbies is spoiling my toy poodle, Gigi. She loves playing with her toys and going on walks.
Kristen Blodgett – Middle School (Spanish, Leadership, History)
¡Hola! I am so happy to be a part of the St. Paul School family.
After completing a bachelor’s degrees in Spanish and Anthropology at CWU in 2009, I returned to school in 2010 to complete the teacher preparatory program. I had a rewarding experience student teaching middle school Spanish in Ellensburg. After finishing school I dedicated my time to staying home and caring for my family and volunteering at my church.
I am now beginning my second year of teaching at St. Paul’s but I feel as if I have known the school for years. I have a lot family, including my husband, who has attended school here. Last year I experienced first-hand how incredible this school is and am super excited to be bringing my 3 oldest daughters here. (Our youngest daughter will be attending once she is old enough).
Learning Spanish can be fun and fascinating; it gives the learner a window into another culture and its people. I love teaching Spanish and think it is an important and beneficial skill to have in our increasingly diverse community and world. This passion began at a very young age when I spent time with my El Salvadoran family (on my dad’s side), and continued on while living in Orlando, studying abroad in Spain, and spending much of my childhood with my amigas mexicanas. God loves everyone and the best way to truly understand and build connections between two different cultures is to speak their language!
Edna Trejo – Middle School (Religion, Social Studies)
This is my 5th year of teaching and I am so excited to be at St. Paul’s for this coming school year! I currently hold a Secondary Education degree endorsed in Social Studies, History and Language Arts/English from Central Washington University. Go Wildcats! I am looking forward to making the Yakima Valley my home, I am engaged and will be married this coming year to my college sweetheart, Jay. I love coffee, reading, music, telling stories, long walks, and rooting for the Broncos during the football season.

She is married with two sons.

Sandy Bennett – Religion, Music, Art
Jennifer Endicott – Physical Education/Health
Cam Trammell – Librarian
Alex Pualani – Band & Strings
Jenessa Markland – Drama
Jenessa Markland is a native of Yakima, WA. Her first exposure to acting was due to a stint performing in a circus starting in elementary school and continuing through middle school. This remains her fondest memory of being involved in the performing arts. Jenessa performed in many plays and musicals throughout middle school and high school.
After high school, she briefly attended the University of New Orleans on a full-ride scholarship to study jazz saxophone. Unfortunately, her freshman year was abruptly ended by Hurricane Katrina. She then found herself studying at a conservatory in Rotterdam, Netherlands. The following year, she attended Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle. Eventually, she graduated from the University of Washington with a B.A. in Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations, having focused on Arabic and Islamic Studies. While at university, her acting experiences were limited to straight plays–in Arabic and Hebrew, with the occasional monologue in Ancient Greek.
During college and after, Miss Markland worked as a pit musician for musicals in the Seattle area, playing Reeds 1 and 2 (saxophones, flute, and clarinet) and 2nd Keyboard. After graduation, she taught musical theatre to children aged 5-18. Her further theatre credits include: directing, assistant directing, choreographing, stage managing, running light and sound, costume and set design, and prop making. Jenessa is thrilled to be back in Yakima and working with the young thespians at St. Paul Cathedral School!
